Happy Scotty Day!

On Monday, we celebrated Scotty's Birthday! Amy planned out that we would meet her and Scott at Fogo De Chao and then head to ESPN Zone for some fun!

Surprise, Scotty!!
Here's Chris, VERY excited about dinner!

For those of you who are not familiar with Fogo De Chao, it's a Brazilian Churriso Resturaunt. This means that you get a card with a green side and a red side. Gauchos walk around the resturaunt, with skewers of meat...when you filp the card green, they bring you meat. When you flip it to red they stop.--They also have a killer salad bar, and yes--it's all you can eat.

Happy Birthday, Scotty! Make a wish on your special birthday flan! (or as I said, quoting Friends--'Happy Birthday Scotty, Here's your goo!')

Shannon and Mike watch Scotty make a wish.

Mmm...Amy loves the flan!!

On to ESPN Zone!

I was very disappointed that they don't have Skee-Ball! What's up with that?! Even Chuckie Cheese has Skee-Ball!

Watching Mike and Scotty on the horse race game did crack me up... I think they're a little big to be jockies.

Mike's tired!!

Good Times!! Happy Birthday, Scotty!

Bath Time!

It's summer, and that means that Seamus starts to get his baths out doors!

Here's the kitty in a kiddie pool!

You can see he's not happy. He's eyeing that soap because he knows it's just going to get worse!

He's trying to escape the soapy horrors!

A random by-passer heard Seamus' yowls down the street. I assured him, it's just bath day. As of post time, Seamus was drier and hiding in the house somewhere and is still not happy with me.

Mild Amusements

Chris and I went out on Friday for some wings and trivia (we played on the TV's at the bar). I beat him! Any who, as we were sitting there, I noticed some guys playing darts near our seats. I never thought I'd see this in real life, but this guy throwing darts had toilet paper stuck to his shoe!!

He played a whole game like that. His buddy didn't even help him out. I hope he didn't try to hit on anyone looking like that!

I'm easily amused!

When does life get un-floopy?

Did you ever see the Friends episode,"The one with George Stephonopolis"? It's the one where the boys go to the hockey game and the girls have a slumber party, drink and end up with George Stephonopolis' pizza?

Anyway, my point is about the floopy-ness. When does life get un-floopy?

This afternoon really was feeling floopy. The topper was that I was filling out an online application for a high school teaching position (don't worry mom, I still have a job, I'm just looking to get back in at the High School level--I do have a preference!) and I received a rejection e-mail before I even submitted the app! Are my qualifications that sucky, that the district decided to say, "Hey, stop typing! Don't waste your time!"? WTF!

I feel like I need a plan, and like Phoebe, "I don't even have a 'pl.'"

Lookin' for a place where everybody knows my name...

Back in the day, my bar was Mike's American Ale House. I wandered in one day with a mountian of papers to grade and needed a place to grade them. I ordered a beer and a burger and the friendly bartender came over to chat...The rest is history.

I was a regular. All the staff knew me. It didn't matter if I came in alone, because there was always someone to talk to and the staff always seemed to be looking out for me. I'd help clean up at the end of the night, Sean would make my burgers extra bloody, Mike was always around for a great story...

But then I got busy. Did the master's degree thing. Had someone's ex-girlfriend threaten to kick my ass is if she caught me in there. I'm not confrontational...so I drifted away. Mike's moved further down the street. It's no longer "stumble distance". I hear they have pizza now, and a second location. I miss the good ol' days. I need to find that place where everyone knows my name.

Maybe I'll give it another go. It's been a while, but maybe I can get my old bar stool back.

Whatever gets me through the week...

My only defense is that it's been a long week... The kids are squirlly, it's spring... you get the idea.

Any who...

I was leaving work and I was walking to the stairwell to punch out. I glanced up and saw something purple on the celing.

Second Floor Center Stairwell

I thought it was just gum. But I wondered how a kid got gum stuck to the celing. Upon further review, I realized that it is actually a small purple lion.

Random purple lion stuck to the celing

This totally made me laugh! I have no idea how long it's been there, or how long before someone takes it down or it falls. But it definately is a source of mild amusement to get me through the day.

Thank you, Random Purple Lion! Roar!!

Just for Fun

I know it's been a while, but it's been crazy busy at school. I had my evaluation (don't get me started!!) and this week is Fine Arts Week. I have an art show after school tomorrow. After all that, it's down hill for me!

I do have some fun web sites to keep you entertained. Don't thank me...thank Petra for sending them to me and keeping me sane!!
The first is just funny...Enjoy the Evolution of Dance:

The second is fun too. Draw a pig and it will tell you something about your personality. I'm not sure how accurate it is...but then again I drew bacon. It didn't really have an answer for that!

Enjoy!

My little piggy

Yeah, I know I'm going to sound whiney...

I broke my baby toe!! It looks like a purple grape where my toe should be. I tripped over Chris' shoes--stupid big feet. That pair of shoese smells any way.

I do appreacate the suggestions to make it feel better. Mom says to ice it, Barb says buddy tape and drugs, and Laura says Tiger Balm. I don't know which will work, but I'll be wearing sandals for a while!!

Tales IV

I know I haven't posted about my students in a while, so here it goes!

For the record, today was fairly un-eventful. Most of my students were absent because they were attending the immigration rally downtown. But there is some news about one of my sixth graders.

She's pregnant. (Yes, you read correctly. I said 6th grade. That means she's about 12 or 13.) She'll be transferring out to attend a special school that can better meet her needs.

What tops it, is the fact that her mother was in about some of her daughter's report card grades. This girl didn't attend many classes due to chronic absences, and as a result she was not receiving passing grades. The mother complained to her homeroom teacher "You don't understand how hard it is for me to get my kids [to school]! I have eight kids and two of them are pregnant!"
